Quotes To Inspire: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepst fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?...And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Marianne Williamson

Items To Buy: Dean's Beans is a fair trade coffee grower that is making a difference. Dean's Bean's focuses on People-Centered Development, where they look at the real needs of a coffee growing community, such as medical issues, electricity, and clean water. Other typical forms of aid, like military funding or dam building, can lead to the destruction of the environment and population resettlement, which can make matters worse in these areas. Knowledge To Share: Although the most frequently mentioned participants in the Civil Rights Movement are men, women played a crucial role in all levels of leadership. One of the most influential civil rights leaders is Ella Baker. Hoping to coordinate the sit-in movement, she called a meeting in April 1960 that led to the formation of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. Adopting a theory of non-violence, Ella said that, "The major job was getting people to understand that they had something within their power that they could use, and it could only be used if they understood what was happening and how group action could counter violence." As Patty Murray says, "Women make this country run - we are business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians, mothers, and more."
